y confident player or insecure scared virgin?

Back about 13 years ago I had a crush on this boy in middle school. Everyone knew. He was always so mean to me. Well, I just got in touch with him last week and it was the first time we EVER spoke. He seemed really nice. We talked about alot, my son, what i have been up to, what he has been up to. He said he lives home and is really a homebody, doesnt do much. He tried playing football but it didnt work out. We exchanged pics (some xrated) and said we would meet up but last minute he flaked on me. When I sent a text and asked if I scared him away (joking that its not like i was asking him to marry me) he responded with 'OMG LMAO single till I DIE!!' and went out to say how 'basically' he is a player.... Not what I had gathered from speaking to him and never met a man who comes right out and calls themself a player (most players are smooth and sneaky), then he texts 'dont worry, ill come c u'... 'DONT WORRY?! I wasnt, what gives him the idea I was worrying because I texted him if he was scared? My question to the men out there? Is this guy really just an insecure scared kid who overcompensates to portray someone or something he's not or is he really 'a player' and just an ***??
