Will the pomegranate tree survive after it was cut in a half?

It seems to me that this king of tree's has already grown to it's full height, about 20ft. As the Pomegranate tree is not normally pruned to any extent, because of it tendency to grow several curving fruiting branches from the trunk, which gives it the well recognised shape. Having cut half the tree away, I don't think there is much hope for it's survival. My question has to be....Who gave those HOA landscaping idiots the authority to interfere with it in the first instance. There are 2 things I would suggest you do. (1) Do not let these vandals within a mile of your house again. ("2) Reclain you money together with appropriate compensation for the damage. I'm afraid the King is dead, long live the King.
